Engine Controls - MIL ON And Various DTC's Stored
01 MIL on, DTC P112800 and/or P113000 or P008700 or P244000 and/or P244200 in ECM01 12 62
2029340/5
December 12, 2012.
Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 24 number 12-35 dated October 1, 2012 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
MIL on with one or more of following DTCs:
^ DTC P112800 and/or P113000 (System too lean) stored in ECM.
^ DTC P008700 (Rail pressure too low)
^ DTC P244000 and/or P244200 (Secondary Air Valve stuck open)
Technical Background
The faults listed can occur under certain driving conditions. This is caused by an incorrect software setting. In some scenarios such as extended idling or heavy stop and go traffic, this could cause a slight misinterpretation of the data and possibly an activation of the Malfunction Indicator Light.
^ The above condition is shown for DTCs P112800 and/or P113000 in the freeze frame data, by setting the fault with high Intake Air Temperatures (above 104°F [40°C]).
In the example above Intake Air Temperature is 108°F (42°C).
^ The above condition is shown for DTC P008700 in the freeze frame data, by setting the fault with high Engine Coolant Temperatures above 212°F (100°C).
In the example below Intake Air Temperature is 221°F (105°C).
^ No condition restrictions for P244000 and/or P244200.
Production Solution
New software in the ECM Control Module (J623) addressed the condition.
