Information Electronics Control Module 1 (J794)

The information electronics control module 1 is located inside the instrument panel.

- If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine of the Vehicle diagnostic tester.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.

Removing

- Remove the CD from information electronics control module 1.

- Remove the Climatronic control module (J255).

- Remove the screw - 2 - from information electronics control module 1 - 1 -.






- Remove the information electronics control module 1- 1 -.

Pay attention to the wire routing to the display inside the instrument panel. It will not be possible to extend the display again if the wiring is routed incorrectly during installation.

- Release and disconnect all connectors from information electronics control module 1 and from the trim piece with the switches.

- Connect the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST bus connectors - 2 -.






Next, remove the trim piece with the switches - 1 - from information electronics control module 1- 3 -.






Removing Trim Piece

- Remove the screws - 2 - (quantity: 4) and remove the trim piece with the switches - 1 - from information electronics control module 1 - 3 -.






Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal.

Pay attention to the wire routing to the display inside the instrument panel. It will not be possible to extend the display again if the wiring is routed incorrectly during installation.

- Be sure to guides the wires from the information electronics control module 1 to the wiring harness and information electronics control module 1 exactly, otherwise the Front information display control head (J685) will not extend.
