Sensor Electronics Control Module

Excessive shaking will damage the sensor electronics control module (J849).

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 505 x)

Removing

The sensor electronics control module is installed under the center console cover.

- Remove the center console cover.

- Disconnect the connector - 3 -.






- Remove all four nuts - 1 -.

- Remove the sensor electronics control module - 2 -.

Installing

Excessive shaking will damage the sensor electronics control module.

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Mount the sensor electronics control module on the four bolts.

Make sure it is installed in the correct position The connector faces the direction of travel.

When installing the sensor electronics control module - 2 - make sure it is correctly seated in its mounting and is free of stress.






Push the sensor electronics control module into position without using the bolts or using force.

To install the sensor electronics control module free of tension, install all the nuts loosely and then tighten them diagonally.

- Install all four nuts - 1 -.






- Tighten all four nuts - 1 - to 9 Nm.

- Connect the connector - 3 -.

Start the program in Guided Functions on the (VAS 505 x) if the control module is replaced.

- Turn off the ignition and connect the (VAS 505 x) to the diagnostic connection.






Switch on ignition

DTC memory interrogated, errors shown corrected and DTC memory erased.

- Start the program in Guided Functions.
