Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Knock Sensors 1 (G61)/Knock Sensors 2 (G66)

Removing






- Remove the supercharger.

- Remove the affected intake manifold lower section. Refer to => [ Lower Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the connector - 3 - on cylinder bank 1 from the retainer.






- Disconnect the connector - 2 - for Knock Sensor (KS) 1 from the bracket.

• Ignore - 1 -.

- Remove and disconnect the connector - 2 - on cylinder bank 2 for KS 2 (G66).






• Ignore - 1 and 3 -.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - from KS 1 or the screw - 2 - from KS 2 and then remove the knock sensor.






Installing

- Install the removed knock sensor.

• The tightening specification influences the function of the knock sensor.

• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Ignition System Overview ] Service and Repair.

- Install the left and right lower intake manifold. Refer to => [ Lower Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail ] Service and Repair.

- Install the supercharger.
