Backrest Cover and Backrest Cushion, Reclining Seat
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pry lever (80 - 200)
Removing
- Remove the headrest guide.
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
- Remove comfort reclining seat. Refer to => [ Comfort Reclining Seat ] Comfort Reclining Seat
- Attach comfort reclining seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.
- Remove backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest.
- Detach molding - 1 - and - 2 - for the seat backrest cover on the the backrest frame.
- Remove the clips - 2 and 3 - on the backrest frame using the pry lever (80 - 200).
- Unclip the clamping strip- 1 - on top of the seatback cover from the pressure distribution plate by using the pry lever (80 - 200) to release the tabs.
- Detach the hooks - 1 - and molding - 2 - that are attached to the backrest cover on the backrest frame.
- Disconnect and free up the electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolts - 3 -.
- Release electrical wire bracket - 4 - for side airbag on the backrest frame.
- Push side airbag - 1 - up - arrow - and detach from the backrest frame.
- Leave the side airbag inside the pocket - 2 - sewn in the backrest cover.
- Remove the backrest cover and backrest cushion upward and off the backrest frame while removing the side airbag and backrest heating wiring harness.
- Remove the side airbag from the pocket sewn in the backrest cover.
Set the airbag down so the impact cushion faces upward.
Installing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
• Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to => [ Standard Seat ] Standard Seat.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
