Brake Disc, Replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

• The brake carrier must be removed first in order to remove the brake disc.

Removing

- Raise vehicle.

- Remove wheels.

- Unclip the wire from the brackets on the stub axle carrier.

- Remove brake pads. Refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads

- Hang the brake caliper on the body using a suitable wire.

Do not let the brake caliper hang on the brake hose. Do not support the weight with the brake hose.

Do not actuate the brakes or the electromechanical parking brake when the brake caliper is removed.

- Loosen the brake carrier at the bolts - 12 -.





- Install the brake carrier - 11 -.

- Hold the brake disc firmly and remove the locking pin - 7 - on the brake disc.

- Remove the brake disc.

Installing

• Clean the contact surface on the wheel hub and brake disc before installing the brake disc.

- Place the brake disc on the hub.

• Do not tilt the brake rotor.

- Tighten the brake disc with the bolt - 7 -.





- Install the brake carrier.

- Install the brake carrier - 11 - with the bolts - 12 -.

• Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. Make sure the brake hose is not blocked, bent or rubbing against the vehicle.

- Install brake pads. Refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.

• Make sure the wire are installed correctly in the brackets on the stub axle carrier so that they can come out of the brackets on their own.

- Lower vehicle.

Start the program in Guided Functions on the (VAS 505 x) if the brake pads were replaced.

- Turn off the ignition and connect the (VAS 505 x) to the 16-pin diagnostic connection.





• Switch on ignition

• parking brake released

• Coding check and reported if necessary.

• DTC memory interrogated, errors shown corrected and DTC memory erased.

- Start the program in Guided Functions.

• After installing, press the brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.

• Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
