Components of Rear A/C Unit Overview






1 Rear Heating & A/C Unit

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

2 Rear Recirculation Door Motor (V421)

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Rear Recirculation Door Motor (V421) ] Rear Recirculation Door Motor (V421).

3 Rear Fresh Air Blower (V80)

Refer to => [ Rear Fresh Air Blower (V80) ] Description and Operation.

Ensure the correct allocation using Electronic Parts Catalog.

Check the function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

4 Evaporator

Remove and install (only possible with the rear A/C unit removed), refer to => [ Rear Evaporator Replacement ] Rear Evaporator Replacement.

Check the bonded foam seal. It must not be damaged and must be properly glued on.

5 Left Rear Temperature Door Motor (V313)

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Left Rear Temperature Door Motor (V313) ] Left Rear Temperature Door Motor (V313).

6 Left Rear Upper Body Vent Motor (V315)

7 Left B-Pillar/Footwell Shut-Off Door Motor (V212)

10 10-Pin Harness Connector

Connection point between the wiring harness at the rear A/C unit and the vehicle wiring harness.

11 Wiring Harness To The Temperature Sensors In The Right Front Footwell

12 Right Rear Temperature Door Motor (V314)

13 Right Rear Upper Body Vent Motor (V316)

15 Rear Heater Core

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Rear Heater Core ] Rear Heater Core.

The rear heater core remains in the vehicle when removing the rear A/C unit (so that the coolant circuit does not need to be opened). Refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

Bonded foam seal, check before installing, refer to => [ Rear Heater Core ] Rear Heater Core.

Bleed the rear coolant circuit, refer to => [ Rear Heater Core ] Rear Heater Core.

16 Coolant Lines

To the heater core in the rear A/C unit.

These coolant lines are connected to the coolant circuit via coolant hoses running at the bottom of the center tunnel.

For these coolant lines to be able to be removed, the air duct to the rear fresh air blower (V80) => [ Rear Fresh Air Blower (V80) ] Description and Operation and the heat shield in the center tunnel must be removed.

These coolant lines are connected to the coolant circuit via coolant hoses running in the center tunnel.

To remove the heat shield in the center tunnel, the exhaust system with the center muffler and the driveshaft must also be removed depending on the vehicle.

17 Pass-Through For Coolant Lines

Remains partially in the vehicle when removing the rear A/C unit, refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

The evaporator is connected to the coolant circuit via coolant lines running at the bottom of the center tunnel.

For the coolant lines between this pass-through and the rear expansion valve to be removed, the rear expansion valve and the heat shield in the center tunnel must be removed. To remove the heat shield in the center tunnel, the exhaust system with the center muffler and the driveshaft must additionally be removed depending on the vehicle.

18 Condensation Water Drain With Foam Seal

Condensation water drain under the rear fresh air blower (V80).

To check the condensation water drain, the rear fresh air blower or the heat shield in the center tunnel must be removed.

To remove the heat shield in the center tunnel, the exhaust system with the center muffler and the driveshaft must additionally be removed depending on the vehicle.

Check with the heat shield in the center tunnel removed, refer to => [ Rear Condensation Water Drains, Checking ] Rear Condensation Water Drains, Checking.

19 Rear Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J391)

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Rear Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J391) ] Rear Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J391).

Ensure the correct allocation, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

Check the function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

20 Condensation Water Drain With Foam Seal

Condensation water drain under the evaporator in the rear A/C unit.

In the version of the heat shield in the center tunnel installed at the start of production, this condensation water drain can be checked from below with the exhaust system and the driveshaft installed (the heat shield in the center tunnel ends before the drain). If a longer heat shield is used at a later time, the rear A/C unit or the heat shield in the center tunnel must be removed to check the condensation water drain.

To remove the heat shield in the center tunnel, the exhaust system with the center muffler and the driveshaft must additionally be removed depending on the vehicle.
