Cellular Phone: Description and Operation
Telephone System
The telephone system consists of the following components:
• Cell phone preparation in the information electronics control module 1 (J794) (9ZF)
The telephone baseplate (R126) is installed in the center console. The telephone is operated either by the Multi Media Interface (MMI) infotainment or by the cellular telephone (R54).
Microphones for the microphone unit in front roof module (R164) are integrated in the front interior lamp (W1). One microphone ( left front microphone (R140) ) is connected directly to the information electronics control module 1.
The connection for the antenna is located on the telephone baseplate.
• Bluetooth(R) for car phones in the information electronics control module 1 (9ZW)
The Bluetooth car phone has its own telephone handset (R37) / telephone handset 2 (R116) (Bluetooth Handset) with a SIM card slot and charging base in the front and rear center consoles.
The Bluetooth car phone also supports the operation of Bluetooth cellular telephone (R54). Bluetooth cellular telephones do not have to be mounted in a bracket or be integrated into the vehicle hands-free equipment.
The Bluetooth link is the only means of connecting the cell phone. The cellular telephone SIM card (directory) can also be read out.
The Bluetooth vehicle telephone has its own telephone handset (R37) with a SIM card slot and charging base.
Use hands-free calling or the voice recognition system to operate the Bluetooth car phone and the cellular telephone via the telephone handset (R37) / telephone handset 2 (R116).
The Bluetooth antenna (R152) is integrated in the information electronics control module 1 (J794).
Microphones for Microphone Unit in front roof module (R164) are integrated in the Front Interior Light (W1). On microphone ( left front microphone (R140) ) is connected directly to the information electronics control module 1.
The connection for the antenna is located on the information electronics control module 1.
• Bluetooth(R) hands free calling in the information electronics control module 1 (9ZX)
The information electronics control module 1 is installed with the microphone unit in front roof module and is part of the hands free setup. Bluetooth(R) connects the cellular telephone.
The Bluetooth antenna(R) is integrated in the information electronics control module 1.
Fault finding is performed via "Guided Fault Finding" using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
Notes on Bluetooth(R) Technology
A standardized radio connection system is used to transmit data between the information electronics control module 1 and telephone handset/cellular telephone - Bluetooth(R) technology.
An additional transmitter/receiver unit is installed in the information electronics control module 1. A separate Bluetooth(R) antenna combines the information electronics control module 1 and telephone baseplate/cellular telephone, so that the telephone handset/cellular telephone can be wireless.
The range of the radio wave connection is approximately 10 meters.
