Brake Disc
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)
• The brake carrier, together with the brake caliper, must be removed in order to remove the brake rotor.
Removing
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove wheels.
- Unclip the wire from the brackets on the stub axle carrier.
- Remove bolts - 12 -.
- Remove the brake caliper with the brake pads and the brake carrier - 11 -.
- Hang the brake caliper with the brake carrier on the body with wire.
Do not let the brake caliper with the brake carrier hang on the brake hose. Do not support the weight with the brake hose.
Do not actuate the brakes or the electromechanical parking brake when the brake caliper is removed.
- Remove the securing bolt - arrow - on the brake disc while holding the disc firmly.
- Remove the brake disc from the wheel hub.
• When removing the brake disc from the wheel hub, do not tilt the disc.
Installing
• Use new bolts.
• Clean the brake disc, wheel hub and contact surface before installing.
- Place the brake disc on the hub.
• When positioning the brake disc, do not tilt it on the wheel hub.
- Install the securing bolt - arrow - and tighten.
- Install the brake caliper with the brake carrier and the brake pads installed.
• Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. Make sure the brake hose is not blocked, bent or rubbing against the vehicle.
- Tighten bolts - 12 -.
- Clip the electrical wires into the bracket on the stub axle carrier.
• Make sure the wire are installed correctly in the brackets on the stub axle carrier so that they can come out of the brackets on their own.
- Install wheels.
Wheel bolt tightening specifications, refer to => Wheel and Tire Guide Specifications.
- Lower vehicle.
Start the program in Guided Functions on the (VAS 505 x) if the brake pads were replaced.
- Turn off the ignition and connect the (VAS 505 x) to the 16-pin diagnostic connection.
• Switch on ignition
• parking brake released
• Coding check and reported if necessary.
• DTC memory interrogated, errors shown corrected and DTC memory erased.
- Start the program in Guided Functions.
• After installing, press the brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.
• Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
