Evaporator Housing
• The evaporator housing is not disassembled in customer service. For better illustration of the design, a disassembled evaporator housing is shown in the following figure.
• The evaporator housing with an evaporator as installed during production of the vehicle is available completely pre-installed as a replacement part. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.
• The replacement part includes an evaporator that can be removed and installed with the A/C unit installed and without disassembling the evaporator housing. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA) and to => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed.
1 Screw
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Expansion Valve ] Front Expansion Valve.
2 Expansion Valve
• Removed during removal of the front A/C unit, refer to => [ Front Heating and A/C Unit ] Front Heating and A/C Unit.
• Remove and install the refrigerant line from the expansion valve, refer to => [ Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting ] Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting.
• Removal and installation, refer to=> [ Front Expansion Valve ] Front Expansion Valve.
3 Mounting Plate
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed.
4 O-ring
• Replacing, refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-rings ] Refrigerant Circuit O-rings.
• Allocation, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.
5 O-ring
• Replacing, refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-rings ] Refrigerant Circuit O-rings.
• Allocation, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.
6 Support Ring
• The support ring increases the pressure of the grommet on the plenum chamber rear wall, refer to => [ Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting ] Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting.
• Check the seating of the support ring in the grommet, refer to => [ Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting ] Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting.
7 Grommet
• For sealing the opening through the plenum chamber rear wall for the refrigerant lines.
• With support ring for sealing in the plenum chamber rear wall, refer to=> [ Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting ] Front Expansion Valve Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting.
• Currently part of the replacement part evaporator housing. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

10 Cover for the refrigerant pipes leading to the evaporator
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed.
• The cover, which is installed with the replacement evaporator, is not currently included within the scope of delivery for the replacement evaporator.Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA) (rework the series cover, refer to => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed).
• Ensure proper attachment to the evaporator housing, refer to => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed.
11 Lower Section Of Evaporator Housing
12 Evaporator
• This version is installed by the manufacturer.
• Removing with the A/C unit installed => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed.
• Delivered as replacement evaporator part with various components needed for installation (refrigerant pipes, O-ring seals, etc.). Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• Check glued-on foam seals for damage and proper adhesion, refer to => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed.
