Heated Oxygen Sensor In Front of Catalytic Converter

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ring Spanner 7-Piece Set (3337)

Removing

All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.

- Remove engine cover.

- Unclip the fuel supply line - 2 -.

- Loosen the clamps - 1 and 3 - and remove the right air guide pipe.





- Loosen the clamps - 1 and 3 - and remove the left air guide pipe.





- Remove the vacuum lines - arrows - from the intake connection.

- Remove the bolts - 4 - and remove the crankcase ventilation.





- Remove the hose - 2 - from the EVAP canister purge regulator valve 1 (N80).

- Disconnect the connectors - 1 and 3 -.

- Remove the EVAP canister purge regulator valve 1 from the bracket and move it to the side.





- Open the clamp on the intake connection.

- Remove both bolts - arrows - from the intake connection.





- Remove the intake connection.

- Disconnect the connector - 2 -.





- Remove the heated oxygen sensor (G39) - 4 - using a tool from the (3337).

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

New oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste; the paste must not get into slots of oxygen sensor body.

For a used oxygen sensor, only coat threads with hot bolt paste. This paste must not come into contact with oxygen sensor slots. Hot bolt paste, refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA

Electrical wire of oxygen sensor must always be secured in the same position when installing so that contact with the exhaust pipe is avoided.

During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.
