Preparations for Compressor and Pressure Line Leak Check
Preparations for Compressor and Pressure Line Leak Check
• When an appropriate entry is made in the event memory, you are prompted in "Guided Fault Finding" to perform a leak check. Refer to Vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Then the preparations for this leak test are described that must be carried out directly in the rear seat.
• Connection diagram with assignment of the pneumatic lines to the air cushions. Refer to => [ Pneumatic Components on the Individual Power Rear Seat, Connection Diagram ] Pneumatic Components on the Individual Power Rear Seat, Connection Diagram.
• The external check valve - 1 - is discontinued as of June 2010. Since then it is located inside the control modules for the multicontour seat. To find out if the control module has the check valve or not, refer to the Parts Catalog.
• Remove the separate check valve if installing a multicontour seat control module that contains an integrated check valve. Refer to the => electronic parts catalog.
Procedure
• Seat frame/rear seat backrest released in the vehicle and folded forward with electrical harness connectors connected. Refer to => [ Lower Seat Frame/Rear Seat Backrest ] Lower Seat Frame/Rear Seat Backrest.
Version with a separate check valve and restrictor on the multicontour seat control module:
- Disconnect pneumatic line to the multi-contour seat control module (J874) / (J875) by pressing release ring on the check valve - 1 - - arrow A - and simultaneously removing pneumatic line - 2 - - arrow B -.
- Connect the turbocharger tester (V.A.G 1397A) to the pneumatic line from the compressor to the check valve - 1 - using the hose, the adapter from the surge tank (VAS 6618/10).
Version with a integrated check valve and restrictor in the multicontour seat control module:
• The pneumatic line must be disconnected from the multicontour seat control module with an integrated check valve and restrictor. Refer to the => Parts Catalog.
- Disconnect the pneumatic line - 1 - to the multicontour seat control module (J873) / (J872) must be disconnected at the following location. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Pneumatic Lines ] Disconnecting and Connecting Pneumatic Lines:
a 50 mm
- Connect the turbocharger tester (V.A.G 1397A) to the pneumatic line from the compressor using the hose, the adapter from the surge tank (VAS 6618/10).
- To connect, attach the connector (exterior) 5 x 3 (VAS 6618/3) - 1 - to the pneumatic line.
Continuation for all versions:
• For the connection, insert pneumatic lines in the connecting sleeves (VAS 6618/3) of both sides - A arrows -.
• To release, push release rings - B arrows - and simultaneously remove pneumatic lines - C arrows -.
In one of the test steps in the "Guided Fault Finding", you are prompted to connect the turbocharger tester (V.A.G 1397A) at the pneumatic line to the valve blocks (N479) / (N480) or (N481) / (N482).
- Carefully release latch - arrow -, disconnect pneumatic lines - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Connect the turbocharger tester (V.A.G 1397A) to the pneumatic line from the compressor - 1 - using the line, the adapter from the surge tank (VAS 6618/10).
- Repeat the check on the pneumatic line coming from the compressor at the opposing valve block.
In one of the test steps in the "Guided Fault Finding", you are prompted to connect the turbocharger tester (V.A.G 1397A) directly to the compressor.
- Carefully release latch - arrow -, remove pneumatic line - 1 - from the compressor - 2 -.
• Ignore - 3 -.
- Connect the turbocharger tester (V.A.G 1397A) to the compressor using line and adapter and the surge tank (VAS 6618/10).
- Connect pneumatic lines following the leak check. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Pneumatic Lines ] Disconnecting and Connecting Pneumatic Lines.
