Distance Regulation Control Module (J428) and Distance Regulation Control Module 2 (J850)






Distance Regulation Control Module (J428) and Distance Regulation Control Module 2 (J850)

Removing and installing the distance regulation control module is described in the following procedure.

Removing and installing distance regulation control module 2 is identical.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Remove the distance regulation control module with the bracket.

The distance regulation control module is located behind the right air intake grille in the front bumper.

The distance regulation control module 2 is located behind the left air intake grille in the front bumper.

If the distance regulation control module is replaced, then start the program on the vehicle diagnostic tester in "Guided Functions".

- Remove the air intake grille - 1 -.






- Remove the bolts - 1 through 4 -.






Make sure the connector - arrow - on the sensor is protected from dirt and water before disconnecting the connector. Take the correct measures, if needed.

- Disconnect the connector - arrow -.

- Remove the distance regulation control module - A - from the bumper cover.

Remove the distance regulation control module from the bracket.

- Turn the nut - 1 - approximately 90° to the left.






- Remove the nuts - 1 - from the stud bolts.

- Remove the distance regulation control module and the stud bolts from the bracket.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Studs in the bracket are preset. If necessary, correct adjustment.

The clips - item 3 - => [ (Item 3) Clip ] Distance Regulation Control Module (J428) and Distance Regulation Control Module 2 (J850) Overview must always be replaced if the stud bolts were removed. Refer to => [ Distance Regulation Control Module Clip ] Distance Regulation Control Module Clip.

- Place the sensor on a soft, clean surface.

Measure Dimension - a - on All the Stud Bolts.





Dimension - a - must be 43.3 mm (1.7 in.).

- Install the distance regulation control module - 3 - in the bracket - 2 - with the stud bolts and then push the nuts - 1 - onto the stud bolts by hand.






- Turn the nut - 1 - approximately 90° to the right.

- Install the distance regulation control module - A - and bracket in the bumper and connect the connector - arrow -.






Check the sensor for damage, contact corrosion and water before connecting the connector - arrow - and service if necessary. General information for performing repairs to the vehicle electrical system.

- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 4 -.

- Adjust the ACC. Refer to => [ Adaptive Cruise Control Sensor, Adjusting ] Service and Repair.

- Install the air intake grille.
