Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82)
Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82)
• The installation location, the designation, and the version of the coolant shut-off valve - A - differ depending on the vehicle version and equipment. Ensure proper allocation using Electronic Parts Catalog.
• The coolant shut-off valve - A - is currently only installed in vehicles with certain engines. Ensure correct coding of the Climatronic control module (J255) using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
• Bracket - E - for the coolant recirculation pump and the coolant shut-off valve - A - is not directly bolted to the body in order to reduce noise. To reduce noise, attachment at the bolts is performed with rubber elements. Ensure that these components do not come in direct contact with the body or with other components.
• The coolant shut-off valve - A - is activated via the A/C system control only in certain A/C system settings (for example in OFF mode or if maximum cooling output is requested). The engine RPM must be lower than 5,000 and the coolant temperature must be below 90 °C (194 °F). Shutting off the coolant circuit to the heater cores of the A/C system accelerates the engine warm-up process when the coolant is cold.
• The coolant shut-off valve - A - is open without activation. For the electrical function of the valve to be able to be checked, activation occurs at certain intervals (for example brief activation lasting approximately 1 second at every twentieth engine start).
• Depending on the vehicle version and the engine, a check valve can additionally be installed in the coolant circuit. A certain amount of coolant flows through this check valve in the small circuit back to the engine even when the coolant shut-off valve - A -/heater coolant shut-off valve is activated.
