Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Quick-Release Couplings and Connecting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Release tool for air conditioner couplings (T40149)

• Disassembly tool (T40232)

• There are different quick-release coupling versions - A - and - D -. Refrigerant lines - C - can be released and removed using the release tool for air conditioner couplings (T40149/1) or the disassembly tool (T40232) in the same manner for both versions of these quick-release couplings.






• The check pins on the - B -quick-release couplings - A - installed at SOP are visible after installing the refrigerant line - C -, when the locked refrigerant line - C - is pulled in the direction of arrow.

• In the case of quick-release coupling - D - installed on a gradual basis, refrigerant line - C - is installed in the same manner as quick-release coupling - A -. If the refrigerant line - C - is pulled in the direction of arrow after assembling, the ring - E - will come out of the quick-release coupling - D - and will show that the retaining ring - F - is completely latched to the refrigerant line - C -. Then the ring - E - can be removed from the refrigerant line - C -.

• Quick-release couplings - A - and - B - (installed under the fender in the area of A-pillar) cannot be released with the (T40149) without damage in all vehicles due to the limited space (for example not in all vehicles with a rear A/C unit). Therefore, disconnect quick-release couplings - A - and - B - in these vehicles with the disassembly tool (T40232) - C - in 3 places along the periphery and then detach retaining ring - D - from quick-release couplings - A - and - B - and refrigerant lines - E - and - F -. Remove the refrigerant pipes - E - and - F - from the quick-couplings - A - and - B -.
