Affected Vehicles





Cpondition
This Update has been proactively released to prevent the following condition from occurring in the vehicle:

A confirmed fault in TCM does not activate the MIL. Related software modules in ECM (master) are deficient. New software calibration corrects ECM modules.

This Update is in effect until removed.

Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:

^ Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 24V6 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.

^ Vehicle must be within the Federal Emissions Limited Warranty.

^ Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.

^ Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.

Technical Background

On certain Audi A8 vehicles manufactured within a specific period it is possible that a confirmed fault in TCM does not activate the MIL.

Updated software in production.

Service

Before performing this Update, check ElsaWeb for Open Criteria. ALL open criteria must be completed.

Note:
Perform the section(s) that apply to the vehicle based on the Open Applicable Criteria ID(s).





Applicable Criteria ID(s) (Figure 1, arrow 1) and "Open" (Figure 1, arrow 2) are shown in Campaign/Action Status under the Campaigns/Actions tab in ElsaWeb.

SVM Update Instructions

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.





2. Update the ECM (J220) using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.

Applicable Criteria ID 02:

Ignition Coil Replacement


This repair is only for specific models with Applicable Criteria 02 shown in Elsa Campaign/Action Status.

Do not attempt this on vehicles that do not show Applicable Criteria ID 02 open.

1. Remove and install new Ignition Coils. Follow all instructions in the ElsaWeb Repair Manual as follows:

a. Engine >> Fuel Injection and Ignition >> Removal and Installation >> Ignition Coils.

b. In addition, removal of Ignition Coil Wire Harness holder is required to disconnect Ignition Coil Connectors from the coils.

Required Parts and Tools
^ Properly destroy and dispose of removed parts in accordance with all state and local requirements, unless otherwise indicated and/or requested through SAGA.

^ If you have exhausted your allocated parts and you require additional parts for vehicles affected by this Update but have exceeded your Upper Order Limit, please submit your requests for additional parts via email to upperorderlimits@audi.com. Be sure to include the affected VINs with your order. Prior to submitting your request, ensure that each vehicle has the 24V6 code open in ElsaWeb. Your order will be reviewed and processed accordingly.
