Fresh Air Blower (V2)/Control Module (J126)
• The Fresh Air Blower and the Fresh Air Blower Control Module are one component. Do not take them apart. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.
• The fresh air blower with the fresh air blower control module as a replacement part is available in different versions. Ensure correct allocation using Electronic Parts Catalog.
• In the case of a switched on ignition and an activated fresh air blower, the fresh air blower control module connects the plus of contact 3 of connector - C - to the fresh air blower. The speed of the fresh air blower is regulated by the fresh air blower control module via the ground connection of connector - C - contact 1. Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function and.
• The fresh air blower is activated (via the fresh air blower control module) by the Climatronic control module (J255) , via a local data bus to contact 1 in connector - C -. Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function and.
• In vehicles with a sunroof with solar cells (C20) (optional equipment), the fresh air blower is activated via the fresh air blower control module when the ignition is off and sufficient voltage is present at contact 2 in connector - C -. The voltage at contact 2 in connector - C - depends on the sunlight on the solar cells. Refer to => [ Sunroof Solar Panel ] Sunroof Solar Panel and Operating instructions.
Removing
- Move the right front seat (front passenger seat) as far back as possible.
- Switch off the ignition.
- Remove the glove compartment.
- Remove the right (front passenger) footwell vent, refer to => [ Right Footwell Vent ] Right Footwell Vent.
- Remove screw clips - A -.
- Loosen and remove insulation mat - B - from bracket - C -.
• There are retaining straps with hooks - A - at the glove compartment - D - that act as assembly aids, and which are installed in the noise insulation openings - B - as shown in the illustration. If the glove compartment - D - is not installed correctly ( press the retaining straps with hooks - A - from underneath against the noise insulation - B -), the noise insulation - B - can only be removed if the glove compartment is already removed.
- Disengage and remove connector - C -.
• Press the locking mechanism down with a small screwdriver, for example, to release the connector.
- Remove screws - A -.
Heat sink on fresh air blower control module may be hot.
Do not grasp the fan wheel of the fresh air blower - D -, apply force against the fan wheel or shift the balancing weights fastened to the fan wheel, as these may cause imbalance and result in problems during operation.
• If the fresh air blower cannot be removed from the air intake housing without force, remove the air intake housing with the fresh air blower, refer to => [ Air Intake Housing Of Front A/C Unit ] Air Intake Housing Of Front A/C Unit.
• Depending on the vehicle version (the thickness and version of the foam under the floor covering in the area of the fresh air blower), it is always possible to remove the fresh air blower from the air intake housing and reinstall it without crushing the fan wheel. However, the fresh air blower can be damaged by even a brief application of force.
- Remove the fresh air blower (with the fresh air blower control module) - B - from air intake housing - E -.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while observing the following.
- Check air intake housing - E - via the shaft for the fresh air blower- B - for contamination and clean if necessary.
- When installing, make sure the fresh air blower- B - fits correctly in air intake housing - E -.
- Check the event memory of the display control head, the Climatronic control module, and erase any displayed malfunctions using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- To check the function, perform the output diagnostic test mode of the A/C system using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
