Level Control System Solenoid (N111)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)
Removing
• The level control system solenoid is located on the air supply unit.
- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.
- Vent the system. Refer to => [ System, Venting or Filling ] Service and Repair.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove nuts - 1 -.
- Remove the stone chip protective molding - 2 -.
• Make sure no dirt gets into the pressure air system.
• Clean the area before removing connecting pieces for the air pipe lines or other components of the pressured air system.
• Seal off any open pressure lines and connections in the pressure system immediately with plugs or cover them.
- Disconnect the connector - 1 - from the level control system solenoid - 3 -.
- Remove the bolts - 2 -.
- Remove the level control system solenoid - 5 -. the O-rings - 1 and 4 -, the spring - 3 - and the anchor - 2 -.
• The O-ring - 1 - may still be located inside the air supply unit housing.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Always replace the O-rings.
- Coat the new O-rings - 1 and 4 - with the supplied grease.
• Note the anchor installation position - 2 -. The chamfer must point toward the spring - 3 -.
• Do not tilt the level control system solenoid when installing it and when tightening the bolts.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Air Line Connecting Pieces Tightening Specification ] Description and Operation
Tightening specification for the nuts on the stone chip protection: 9 Nm
- Fill the system. Refer to => [ System, Venting or Filling ] Service and Repair.
- Place vehicle on wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.
