Condition
The customer complaint is the image from the rearview backup camera does not show on the MMI screen and the control unit for the rearview backup camera is installed from the factory (i.e. the vehicle does NOT have the SK6 PR Code).
Technical Background
A select few 2012 Audi Q5 vehicles built with the camera control unit from the factory can have the image in the MMI disabled after SVM is performed on the vehicle at PDI, or if the vehicle has a port installed trailer hitch. Vehicles with port installed trailer hitches received SVM work at the port of entry. During this SVM work, the rearview back camera image is disabled in the MMI.
If the vehicle has the SK6 PR Code then this bulletin does not apply. Please refer to the 91H3 RVU for any vehicles with the SK6 PR Code.
Production Solution

Service
Verify the 6C - Rear View Camera System control unit (J772) is installed by using Vehicle Self Diagnosis or GFF (Figure 1).
The vehicle is affected by this condition only if in the vehicle installation list the 6C - Rear View Camera System control unit is listed and the backup image does not show in the MMI when the vehicle is put into reverse gear.
An SVM code is required to change the coding and parameterization of the 5F - MMI Mainunit (J794). The software of the 5F - MMI Mainunit (J794) is not updated with this SVM code. Only the coding and parameterization is updated.
SVM Update Instructions
1. Update the MMI Mainunit (J794) coding and parameterization using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.
