Parking Brake Control Module: Service and Repair
Electro-Mechanical Parking Brake Control Module
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
Removing
- Fold up the right rear side trim in the luggage compartment.
A trailer mode control module may be installed depending on the model. The trailer mode control module and the bracket for the module must be removed before removing the electronic parking brake control module.
- Remove nuts.
- Slide electrical connector lock - 2 - forward.
- Remove electronic parking brake control module - 1 - with the plug connector.
- Remove electrical connector from the control module.
- Remove control module from the vehicle.
Installing
- Connect electrical connector - 2 - on the control module.
- Slide retainer on the connector back and lock it.
- Insert control module.
- Install nuts and tighten to 9 Nm.
Install trailer mode control module and bracket, if applicable. Bracket, 3 Nm.
- If electronic parking brake control module is replaced, select the "Replace" function for the respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding".
Use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B) or 5052.
