Fluid Filter - A/T: Service and Repair
ATF Filter
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
Removing
• Clean working conditions for the automatic transmission. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• General repair instructions, refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.
- Remove the ATF oil pan. Refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.
- Carefully pull the ATF filter downward and off the Mechatronic.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- Mount the O-ring - 2 - on the ATF filter - 1 -.
- Clean both magnets - arrows -. Make sure the magnets completely contact the depressions in the ATF filter.
- Mount the ATF filter on the Mechatronic.
• The collar - 1 - on the ATF filter must be installed all the way into the opening - 2 - in the Mechatronic.
• The mount - 4 - on the back must fit into the bolt - 3 - on the Mechatronic.
- Install the ATF pan. Refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.
- Fill the ATF. Refer to => [ ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair ] ATF, Draining or Filling After Repair.
