Adaptation

Adaptation

Immobilizer V has a "One Button Solution". All components of the immobilizer are adapted using the same function test in Guided Fault Finding. An on-line connection for the VAS 505X tester family is needed.

"* * - service immobilizer" is selected either in Guided Fault Finding or Guided Functions and incorporated into the test plan. The identical program for each control module can be selected under "* * - functions - immobilizer 5".

Control Module Condition Functional Tests

Each control module can be either in condition 1 (new) or condition 2 (already adapted or taken from another vehicle). Condition 3 is only in the comfort system central control module (J393) under diagnosis address "05 - access/start authorization" and means that key recognition is currently active.

When adapted, all control modules are in condition 2 and have the same VIN.

The following function tests can be included in the test plan in Guided Functions via "* * - functions - immobilizer 5" and in Guided Fault Finding in "* * - immobilizer status of all control modules":

Service Information

Only the comfort system central control module, the electronic steering column lock control module and one vehicle key are needed to perform "* * - service immobilizer". Only the present systems are adapted. Missing or faulty control modules can be adapted at a later time by repeating the function test.

Adapting the Key

The vehicle keys can be adapted in "* * - service immobilizer". Only the keys from one set can be adapted. A new set of keys gives the vehicle a "new identity". When the first key is inserted, the system recognized if a "new identity" has been adapted. The user does not need to make a choice on the tester.

The specified and actual number of keys being adapted will appear in the instrument cluster control module (J285) as well as on the on diagnosis tester VAS 505X while adapting the keys. The functionality test will automatically continue when the specified number is reached. If all the keys cannot be adapted, then the program can be continued using the arrow pointing to the right. The adaptation can nevertheless be performed without faults.

Up to 8 keys can be adapted. If 0 keys are being adapted, then the vehicle cannot be started any longer.

It is possible to start the engine only after the functionality test "* * - servicing immobilizer " is completed.

Control Module Removal and Installation

After the control module is replaced, perform every functionality test having the title "...replace...". Then all necessary control module functions can be performed and the "* * - servicing immobilizer" can be directly performed or in incorporated into the test plan.

If the comfort system central control module was replaced and the vehicle has a manual transmission, then the key lock is active due to the default coding. Coding can only be performed using "Software Version Management (SVM)". Terminal 15 must be switched on. "46 - replace control module, (Repair Group 57)" must be performed when the immobilizer is adapted because terminal 15 is activated by the comfort system central control module:

"* * - servicing immobilizer" is performed automatically in the functionality test. Only one key can be adapted for the time being. Nevertheless, the program must be continued.

The "component protection" is automatically adapted, the "Software Version Management" including the coding is rewritten to match the read adaptation values.

All the other keys can now be adapted by performing "* * - servicing immobilizer".
