Seat Depth Adjuster

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Seat Repair Stand (VAS6136)

Removing


• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat:

• Manual Sport seat. Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.

• Power Sport seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.

- Attach the front seat to the (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Stand ] Overhaul.

- Remove trim. Refer to => [ Trim ] Trim.

- Equipment level with storage compartment: remove the storage compartment. Refer to => [ Storage Compartment ] Storage Compartment.

- Remove the seat depth adjuster as far as the stop.

- Disengage the retaining tabs - arrow A - and - arrow B - on the upholstery - 1 -.






• The illustration shows the upholstery disengaged.

- Remove the cover with the upholstery upward.

- Disengage the tabs - arrow C - from seat depth adjustment base plate - 2 -.

- Fold the upholstery upward.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - on the seat depth adjustment base plate - 2 -.






- Unclip the retaining tabs - arrow A -.






- Remove the seat depth adjustment base plate upward from seat pan - 1 -.

- Disengage the tabs - arrow B - from the seat pan.

- Disengage the sides and back of seat cover - 2 - - arrows - on seat depth adjustment base plate - 1 -.






- Remove the seat depth adjustment base plate from the front seat.

Installation


• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:







To secure the new bolts, also install nuts on the seat pan side.

- Install a nut - 3 - on the seat pan side of each bolt to secure the bolts after installing them.

• Ignore - 1 and 2 -.

• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
