Seat Pan Frame, Upper
• The upper and lower seat frames cannot be separated from each other on the following front seats: manual standard seat and manual Sport seat as well as folding front passenger seat.
• The upper and lower frames of the seat pan can be separated from each other and replaced individually on the following front seats: power standard seat, power Sport seat and Comfort seat
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Raise the seat to make it possible to pretension the torsion bar.
- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.
- Remove the front seat backrest. Refer to => [ Front Seat Backrest ] Front Seat Backrest.
- Remove the seat pan upholstery.
• Power standard seat and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Seat Pan Cover and Upholstery ] Seat Pan Cover and Upholstery.
• Power Sport seat. Refer to => [ Seat Pan Cover and Upholstery, Sport Seat ] Seat Pan Cover and Upholstery, Sport Seat.
- Disconnect the electrical connector on the seat forward/back adjustment motor.
- Disconnect the front safety belt latch connector. Front Belt Latch
- Remove the seat position sensor from the lower frame. Refer to => [ Driver and Front Passenger Seat Position Sensor, With Seat Occupied Sensor for Belt Fastening Detection ] Driver and Front Passenger Seat Position Sensor, With Seat Occupied Sensor For Belt Fastening Detection.
- First remove the lock nut and then remove the screw - 5 -.
Danger of damaging the threaded the holes or the bushing in the bearing points (connecting the upper and lower frame).
A second technician is needed to be pushing on the seat via the backrest while removing the following screws.
- Remove the screws - 1, 3, 4 and 7 -.
- Remove the upper frame - 2 - from the lower frame - 6 -.
- Make sure the bushings - 1 - and the bearing points (connection upper and lower frame) - 2 - are not damaged.
• The bushings cannot be replaced with workshop materials.
• If the bushings are damaged, the corresponding assembly parts must be replaced.
• If the upper frame is to be replaced, remove the specified wires and electrical and electronic components and install them in the new upper frame.
- Remove the bracket and control module. Refer to=> [ Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module Bracket ] Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module Bracket.
- Remove the seat height adjustment motor. Refer to => [ Seat Height Adjustment Motor ] Seat Height Adjustment Motor.
- Remove the seat angle adjustment motor. Refer to => [ Seat Angle Adjustment Motor ] Seat Angle Adjustment Motor.
- Remove wiring harnesses and individual wires from seat pan upper frame.
Installation
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- Install the removed electrical and electronic components and wires in the new upper frame.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
