Components
• Vehicle Electrical System Control Module (J519)
• Interior Lighting Switch (E317)
• Front Interior Light (W1)
• Front Passenger Map/Reading Light (W13)
• Driver Map/Reading Light (W19)
• Left Rear Interior Light (W47)
• Right Rear Interior Light (W48)
Function Description
The interior lighting switch (E317) controls the interior lighting. This includes 3 different switch-on conditions:
• I (= on)
• O (= off)
• Center position (= door contact)
Position O
The voltage supply to the interior lamps is interrupted when the O position is selected. The reading lamps can be turned on by pressing the read lamp button.
Position I
In position I, the interior lamps (the front interior lamp (W1), the driver and front passenger reading lamps, as well as the left and right rear interior lamps) receive a constant supply of voltage. The interior lamps work whenever the ignition is on (terminal 30G).
If the interior lighting switch (E317) is turned the I position when terminal 30G is switched off and no other electrical consumer is on, then the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) will recognize if a consumer is then switched on and terminal 30G will switch on.
Door Contact Position
When in the door contact position, the interior lamps are supplied with electricity via the dimming output terminal in the vehicle electrical system control module (J519). This output switches the dimming on and off.
The interior lamps will switch on when the switch is in the door contact position under the following conditions:
The interior lamps will switch off when the switch is in the door contact position under the following conditions:
