Function

The luggage compartment lamp (W3) comes on when the rear lid is opened. The comfort system central control module (J393) controls the luggage compartment lamp (W3).

The trunk lid alarm switch (F123) determines the condition of the rear lid, which is then read by the comfort system central control module (J393).

In addition to this, the vehicle speed is needed, which is determined by the ABS control module (J104) from the RPM sensor signals and is then sent to the comfort system central control module (J393) via the CAN Bus.

The signals from all four RPM sensors, or just the front RPM sensors, are used on quattro vehicles.

The luggage compartment lamp (W3) goes out depending on the ignition under the following conditions:

Service Information

If communication with the ABS control module (J104) is not possible or the speed signal received is not correct, the function of the speed-dependant control luggage compartment illumination will not work.

The luggage compartment illumination will not be activated if the switch-off stage in the energy management system is at level 2, 3 or 4.

The luggage compartment lamp (W3) can be controlled by an actuator test in the comfort system central control module (J393) (address 46 - comfort system central control module).
