Condition

Front license plate bracket has no provisional pre-cast holes to mount a license plate for North America. The holes found in the bracket are not for a North American license plate.

Technical Background

Change in concept.

Production Solution

None. This license plate bracket will be supplied in this way in the future.

Service

1. For these cases, do not replace the license plate bracket. The replacement part also does not have the correct screw holes. The bracket supplied with the vehicle will need to be modified. From a piece of cardboard fabricate a template. A manila folder works well. Cut the cardboard in exactly the same shape as the rectangular impression in the bracket.

2. Take the license plate and center it in your template. Use a ruler since this centering must be exact.

3. Trace out the screw holes with a pencil.

4. Now place the template over the bracket and mark through the center of these holes with a sharp pick.

5. Drill a 3 mm hole in each of these marks. Use the screws provided with the bracket to mount the license plate.
