Engine Compartment E-Box
Removing
- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Remove the washer fluid reservoir filler neck. Refer to => [ Washer Fluid Reservoir Filler Neck ] Washer Fluid Reservoir Filler Neck.
- Remove the windshield wiper motor. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Motor with Control Module (J400) ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the engine compartment E-box cover.
• Disregard item - 1 -.
- Release the retainers - A arrows - and remove the Engine Control Module (ECM) - arrow B -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 - if applicable.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors - 4 - and remove the electrical wire - 3 - on the front and back side.
- Open the retainers - arrow - and remove the fuse panel B - 1 -.
- Disengage the engine wiring harness from the E-box and lay off to the side.
- Remove the alarm horn (if equipped) and free up the electrical wiring harness. Refer to => [ Alarm Horn (H12) ] Alarm Horn (H12).
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - for the brake fluid level warning switch.
- Disengage the wiring harness - 1 - on the engine compartment E-box.
- Release the retaining clips - 2 and 5 - and slide the ECM retaining frame - 3 - as far back into the vehicle interior as possible.
- Remove the engine compartment E-box - 4 -.
Installing
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Engine Compartment E-Box, Tightening Specifications ] E-Box, Wire Junction, Fuse Holder and Battery Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install the fuse panel B. Refer to => [ Fuse Panel B in Engine Compartment E-Box ] Fuse Panel B In Engine Compartment E-Box.
- Install the alarm horn. Refer to => [ Alarm Horn (H12) ] Alarm Horn (H12).
- Connect the battery. Required actions, refer to => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Install the windshield wiper motor. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Motor with Control Module (J400) ] Service and Repair.
- Install the washer fluid reservoir filler neck. Refer to => [ Washer Fluid Reservoir Filler Neck ] Washer Fluid Reservoir Filler Neck.
