Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection

Oil Pressure Switch (F1), Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)

• Voltage Tester (V.A.G 1527B)

• Connector Test Set (V.A.G 1594C)

Procedure

• Oil level OK

• Engine oil temperature approximately 80 °C (176 °F).

- Remove oil pressure switch. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch (F1) ] Service and Repair.

- Install the oil pressure switch in the (V.A.G 1342).

- Install the (V.A.G 1342) in the hole for the oil pressure switch in the oil filter bracket.






- Connect the (V.A.G 1527B) to the battery positive and an oil pressure switch connection with lines from the (V.A.G 1594C).

- Connect the second oil pressure switch connection to ground.

• LED must not light up.

- If the LED lights up with the engine at standstill, replace oil pressure switch.

- Start the engine.

• Watch the oil pressure gauge and LED when starting the engine because the oil pressure switch switching point may be exceeded when starting.

• The LED must illuminate at 1.2 to 1.6 bar.

- If the LED does not light up, replace oil pressure switch.

- Install oil pressure switch. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch (F1) ] Service and Repair.
