Dust and Pollen Filter

Dust and pollen filter change interval. Refer to => Maintenance Intervals 03

There are different versions of the dust and pollen filter as replacement part without and with filter insert with activated charcoal. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog. A dust and pollen filter with an activated charcoal filter insert is installed in the Audi A8.

Clean the surrounding area of the dust and pollen filter in heating & A/C unit shaft before installing a new filter.

In vehicles with driving school equipment, the pedals of the driving school equipment must be removed if necessary (depending on the version, service disconnect points are present on the driving school pedals). Relevant information is available in the driving school equipment installation instructions (different manufacturers and versions). Refer to Driving school equipment installation instructions.

Depending on the version, for some countries with high dust levels, a filter is installed instead of fresh air intake grille. Check and replace these if necessary, refer to => [ Fresh Air Intake ] .

Removing

- Move the right front seat (front passenger seat) as far back as possible.

- Switch off the ignition.

- Remove screw clips - A -.






- Loosen and remove insulation mat - B - from bracket - C -.

There are retaining straps with hooks - A - at the glove compartment - D - that act as assembly aids, and which are installed in the noise insulation openings - B - as shown in the illustration. If the glove compartment - D - is not installed correctly ( press the retaining straps with hooks - A - from underneath against the noise insulation - B -), the noise insulation - B - can only be removed if the glove compartment is already removed. Refer to.






- Cover floor carpet in area beneath dust and pollen filter with paper.

- Detach catches - B - and remove the shift cover - A -.






- Remove dust and pollen filter - D - from shaft - E - of the air intake housing.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order while observing the following.

- Clean the air intake housing via shaft - E - (for example, using a vacuum cleaner) after removing dust and pollen filter - C -.

- Install dust and pollen filter - D - on the correct side (the bevel on the side facing the fresh air blower)

The dust and pollen filter - D - for this vehicle does not have a specific flow direction.

Depending on the version, a foam strip - B - may be glued to the the shaft cover - A - (to insulate the space between the insulation).
