OXYGEN SENSOR SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHT - 1982 528e, 1982 733i
At the 30,000 mile service interval, the oxygen sensor indicator light comes on. After the service has been completed, the indicator light can be extinguished by removing the bulb from the "active check control" panel and throwing it away.
If the oxygen sensor indicator light comes on before reaching the 30,0000 mile interval, i.e. at 6,300 miles, check the 0.1 AMP fuse on the rear of the instrument cluster. This can be reached by pulling the steering wheel, removing the instrument cluster, and unsnapping the fuse cover.
If the fuse is blown, replace with a new fuse, P/N 62 14 9 056 472, which is available from the BMW Parts Department.
NOTE:
Make sure that the ignition is off when replacing this fuse or the fuse will blow again due to a power surge.
If the service indicator light has come on prior to reaching the 30,000 mile interval and the 0.1 AMP fuse is intact, see the appropriate ETM for further troubleshooting information.
