Thermo Time Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/CHECKING TEMPERATURE TIME SWITCH




The temperature time switch regulates the open time of the cold start valve, depending on the coolant temperature. The open time (e.g. 8 sec.) and switching off temperature (e.g. + 35°C/95°F) are stamped on the hexagon.

Removing and Installing:



Pull off plug (1).
Unscrew temperature time switch.

Installation Note:
Tightening torque.

Installation Note:



Check code number (1).
Replace seal (2).
FD = Manufacturing date
Fill and bleed cooling system (Group 17).

Checking:



Connect Jetronic test lead 61 1 440.
Check nominal value* with ohmmeter.
To check the entire temperature range, remove and place temperature sensor in a water bath heated to testing temperature.
Check resistance with an ohmmeter.
