SUBJECT: Factory production changes as of 12/84

MODEL: 318i (1985)

Situation: As a production running change in the 1985 model, the factory has modified various components for improved performance.

Information: As of 12/84 production, the following changes have been incorporated into 1985 model 318i vehicles:

^ Idle Control System
- Idle control relay (P/N 13 31 1 708 511)
- Idle control unit (P/N 13 41 1 707 224)

^ Fuel Injection/Closed Loop System
- Oxygen sensor (P/N 11 78 1 707 391)
- NTC-Coolant sensor (P/N 13 62 1 284 397)
- Fuel pump relay (P/N 13 63 1 286 727)
- L-Jetronic wiring harness (P/N 12 51 1 706 464)
- L-Jetronic control unit (P/N 13 61 1 706 453)

^ TSZi-S Transistorized ignition system (refer to TRI # 12 02 85 (2037) for additional details)
- Ignition control unit (P/N 12 14 1 706 439)

With the exception of the NTC-coolant sensor and the idle control unit, these components cannot be "updated/backdated" to previous version vehicles.
