It lists the production date (1/85) of vehicles with the modified idle control unit. Please remove and discard S.I. 13 07 84 (854) from your S.I. binder.
SUBJECT: POOR INITIAL DRIVEABILITY - "HOT ENGINE" WITH A/C ON

VEHICLES PRODUCED PRIOR TO 1/85
Complaint: Poor initial driveability may occur on 2.7 liter engine equipped vehicles after restarting a "hot engine" (coolant temperature between 105 to 140 degrees F) at ambient temperatures above 68 degrees F with the air conditioning ON.
Correction: If any of these conditions occur, proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect idle control unit plug.
2. Unsnap plug cover.
3. Remove brown/red wire from Pin #11
4. Insulate wire connector and tape back against wiring harness.
5. Reconnect idle control idle plug.

The modification described above has been made internally on the idle control units installed on vehicles produced as of 1/85. These modified idle control units are identified with a white paint dot.
