Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

For Vehicles Manufactured Up to 02/1985

Applicable only to engines equipped with one-wire sensor (non heated sensor):
The oxygen sensor should be replaced every 30,000 miles. To alert the operator of the required service an O2 SENSOR lamp on the instrument panel is illuminated after the first 30,000 miles of vehicle operation. As the mileage sensor cannot be reset on these models, the indicator bulb must be removed as follows:
1. Remove screw from right side of display unit cover and slide cover off to the right.
2. Remove lamp bulb from behind O2 SENSOR lens by bending holder.
3. Install display unit cover and retaining screw.
