Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

The air temperature switch is mounted in the air filter intake boot. The switch is used to provide a signal to the ECU that additional mixture and idle compensation are needed when ambient temperature gets significantly below freezing. The air temperature switch is open at normal temperatures, and closed when temperature drops below -11°C (+18°F).
