Engine: Service and Repair
1. Support engine with suitable jack and remove transmission.
2. Disconnect power steering pump and A/C compressor and position aside. Do not disconnect hoses or lines from pump or compressor.
3. Drain coolant, disconnect transmission cooling lines, then remove radiator.
4. Disconnect hood ground wire, remove hood struts, then support hood using suitable tools.
5. Disconnect battery cables.
6. Disconnect wires and plugs from preheater time control unit, lift off cover, then remove attaching bolts and control unit.
7. Remove reservoir tank, then disconnect and mark all remaining wires and lines that will interfere with engine removal.
8. Disconnect wire harness at body and ground strap at engine.
9. Disconnect accelerator cable, cruise control cable, fuel hoses and exhaust pipes as needed.
10. Disconnect hoses from heater core, then remove air cleaner assembly.
11. Disconnect and plug lines to oil cooler. When installing engine, fill cooler with specified oil to prevent engine damage.
12. Working from passenger compartment, disconnect plug from control unit located in glove box, then pull engine wire harness into engine compartment.
13. Attach tool 11 0 020 or equivalent to engine, remove engine mount to body retaining nuts and bolts, then lift and remove engine from vehicle.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
