The application of each version is identified by:
- Vehicle Model
- Engine Application
- Model Year

Before any related testing is started, the correct Motronic version must be determined, because of the possible differences between each version.

The model years given represent a general time frame, as actual production months for each model will vary.

Included are "Identifying Components" that can be used as a quick visual reference of the version that is installed in the vehicle. However, troubleshooting must include the inspection and verification for each component for its correct engine/version mode application.

For positive vehicle identification always refer to the vehicle safety label for the correct production date and Emission label for model year and engine information.
