Wheel Hub: Service and Repair
1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Remove caliper mounting bolts, then suspend caliper with suitable wire.
3. Remove bearing cap, cotter pin, castle nut and notched washer, then the hub and rotor assembly.
4. Remove rotor to hub retaining bolt, then separate hub from rotor.
5. Remove outer bearing from hub, then pry out inner seal and remove inner bearing.
6. Drive out bearing races with suitable drift.
7. Clean hub in suitable solvent and check for wear or heat damage. Replace hub, if necessary.
8. Pack hub with suitable grease, then press new races into hub using suitable tools.
9. Pack inner bearing with suitable grease, then install into hub.
10. Coat inner seal lip with suitable grease, then install seal using tool 31 2 040 or equivalent.
11. Attach hub to rotor with retaining bolt, then install hub/rotor assembly onto spindle.
12. Pack outer bearing with suitable grease, then install bearing, washer and castle nut.
13. Adjust wheel bearings as outlined previously, then install bearing cap, brake caliper and front wheel.
