SUBJECT: Front Seat Safety Belt Height Adjuster
MODELS: 735i (E32)
Complaint: Inoperative front seat safety belt height adjuster.
Situation: A safety release for the seat belt height adjuster actuating cable may be tripped if the seat is moved rearwards and, at the same time, the seat belt is held in a locked position.
Solution: Reconnect the safety release (arrow) and operate the seat fully forward and backward to check for proper movement of the seat belt height adjuster.
General
Information: This complaint usually will not be generated under normal operating conditions as the seat belt is only locked under sudden deceleration. However, if the seat belt is pulled out suddenly, the belt can be locked. If the belt is held in this position while moving the seat rearwards the safety release will be actuated.
