SUBJECT: DME M1.2 Fuel Injection with Hot Wire Air Flow Meter

BMW has developed an advanced engine management system which is ideally suited for use with the new M70, V-12 engine. The new system, designated M1.2, retains all the flexibility of the current M1.1 system with added sophistication. The M1.2 system is uniquely integrated with other power train systems to provide a new level of electronic power control. The interrelated systems include electronic-hydraulic transmission control, EML - the newly developed Electronic Motor Load regulating system-and an identical M1.2 Motronic system which enables individual cylinder bank operation. The twin M1.2 Motronic systems are actually two individual Motronic 6-cylinder engines sharing a common crankshaft. Duplicate sensory input and component function make this siamesed cylinder bank operation possible.
The M1.2 Motronic control unit reflects the latest solid state advances and SMD technology. Improved application of integrated circuits has reduced the number of components while enhancing production quality.
Multifunction engine management provides new possibilities concerning driving pleasure and emergency running ability. The refinements of the M1.2 system continue to assure BMW performance as well as the lowest possible fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
