Critical emission control relevant faults are displayed in the instrument cluster by the "Check Engine" light coming on and staying on continuously.
Four different faults can be detected while driving or operating the car
1. Faulty air flow sensor,
2. Faulty oxygen sensor,
3. Faulty engine temperature sensor,
4. Faulty idle speed switch.
These faults can be determined with the help of a flashing code displayed prior to starting the engine Fig. 69, with the ignition in the ON position. The "Check Engine" light will then be switched off and on in accordance with the fault number.
