Input Signals
The basic input signals to the Control Unit such as- Engine Speed
- Reference Point
- Intake Air Temperature
- Coolant Temperature
- Battery Voltage
- Lambda Signal
- Speedometer Signal
- Throttle Valve Position
- Park/Neutral (P/N) Signal for Automatic Transmission
- Air Conditioner (A/C) Signal
are unchanged compared to the previous Motronic system.
One input signal was added to the M1.1:
- Induction Transmitter
This transmitter, which is an induction coil around the ignition lead of cylinder no. 6, serves to identify the cylinder group for injection (for details see Half Sequential Fuel Injection paragraph of this bulletin).
Another difference with the M1.1 is that a single sensor picks up the signals for engine speed and reference point. The sensor is mounted to the front side of the engine and gets the signals from the reference wheel, mounted to the vibration damper.
The engine speed is determined by scanning the teeth of the reference wheel, whereas the reference point signal per revolution is generated by two missing teeth of the reference wheel.
