Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

1. On models with SRS, disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Remove lower trim panel from left side of center console.
3. Remove retaining screw from parking brake lever cover.
4. Disconnect electrical plug, then remove parking brake lever cover.
5. Lift off covers, then remove retaining screws and slightly push back trim panel back.
6. On models with manual transmission, proceed as follows:
a. Remove ashtray and shifter knob.
b. Remove shift lever dust cover.
7. On models with automatic transmission, proceed as follows:
a. Lift out mask, then remove shift lever cover retaining screws.
b. Disconnect power window electrical connectors.
c. Disconnect electrical connector for EH transmission, if applicable.
d. Disconnect any remaining electrical connectors.
8. On all models, remove screws from left and right sides of center console.
9. Lift out and remove center console.
10. Open glove box and remove pins holding levers to glove box doors.
11. Remove trim panel from below glove compartment, then remove three retaining screws.
12. Remove instrument cluster and heater controls.
13. Open fasteners on left and right side of heater cover and remove cover.
14. Remove screws from lower right side of instrument panel.
15. Lift out glove compartment lamp and disconnect wires.
16. Remove screws from lower left side of instrument panel.
17. Pull instrument panel towards rear and remove from vehicle.
18. Reverse procedure to install.
