Fuel Tank: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and insulate.
2. Draw off enough fuel to make the fuel tank manageable during removal.

WARNING: Take all precautions necessary to prevent fire! No smoking or open flames near the work area; remove drop lights; have a fire extinguisher near, etc.

Filler Neck View:





3. Remove the filler neck cover.
4. Loosen the clamps and pull the vent hoses from the filler neck.

Fuel Pump Location:





5. Remove the trunk mat and unscrew the fuel pump access cover.
6. Loosen the hose clamps and pull of the fuel lines.
7. Remove the electrical connectors.

Component Locations:





8. With an appropriate device support the exhaust system.
9. Remove the muffler bolt.
10. Remove the fuel tank mounting bolt.
11. Remove the exhaust system center suspension donuts.

Retaining Bolt Locations:





12. Support the fuel tank with an appropriate device.
13. Cut the hose strap.
14. Unscrew the fuel tank mounting bolts and carefully remove the fuel tank.
15. Reinstall in reverse manner.
