Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Testing and Inspection

Injection Electronics. Wiring Diagram:

1. With the ignition switch OFF, disconnect connector X1500 at the DME control unit (control unit is located in the E-Box) see COMPONENT LOCATIONS
2. Turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and connect a fused jumper between terminal 15 of X1500 and ground.

^ The "CHECK ENGINE" light must illuminate If not check fuse F17 which is located at the front fuse box, replace as necessary


3. If fuse F17 is OK, check power supply to terminal
7 of X16 at the instrument cluster = Battery voltage If not check for open or short

4. If OK, turn the ignition OFF, remove the fused jumper and reconnect DME control unit connector X1500.

5. Remove the connector X502 at the instrument cluster, turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and check for ground at terminal 3 of X502.

^ If OK, replace "Check Engine" light bulb, or repair or replace instrument cluster circuit board.
^ If ground is not present at terminal 3 of X502 check for open between terminal 3 of connector X502 and terminal 15 of connector X1500.
^ If OK, the DME control unit is defective
