Test (F1)

WARNING: Review Service Precautions. Improper handling could cause activation of the airbag(s) and lead to injuries!

F1 New SRS Recall
With the ignition switch in the "Off" position, insert tool into diagnostic socket until display illuminates (*).

- After a few seconds, "F1" will appear on display.

Turn the ignition "On" and press "Enter" button.

- Display should show two dots ".." to indicate recall in progress.
- After a few seconds, the result will appear on the display.

NO DEFECT FOUND - two dashes will appear "--". There are no problems with the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).

DEFECT CODE FOUND - number with fast blinking dot will appear, refer to Trouble Code Table. With AST 5500

ERROR CODE - blinking "E" plus number will appear, refer to listing on tool or see AST Error Codes. AST Error Codes

After defect has been repaired, it is a good idea to repeat this test to make sure the result is consistent. Use function "F2" to clear the trouble code memory. With AST 5500

Things To Remember
- The diagnostic procedure is not possible if the plug connection X74 is interrupted.

- When elements of the system, such as steering wheel or instrument cluster are removed when the airbag system is in standby mode (as of terminal R), this is also detected by the diagnostic system as a defect and stored in the trouble code memory. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to clear the airbag trouble code memory after installation of these components.

CAUTION: Performing the diagnostic procedure without sufficient ground connection (by way of screw connection) at the casing of the control module can cause damage to the control module.
