SUBJECT:
Radio Will Not Mute with Cellular Telephone in Use

MODELS:
All 5 Series (E34) and 7 Series (E32), Equipped with CMT 100A and CMT 300 Cellular Telephones with Mute Module (P/N 99 99 9 737 776)

Situation:
Unintentional ground signal to mute module, due to transceiver mounting bracket clips rubbing through painted surface of transceiver housing.

Remedy:
Isolate the transceiver mounting bracket from the vehicle chassis by using nylon mounting screws and spacers, P/N 99 99 9 737 777.

If you encounter this situation on a pre-installed transceiver mounting bracket, the bracket must be remounted using the insulation hardware package (P/N 99 99 9 737 777). This package contains installation instructions and will be provided on a no-cost basis.

Mute module kits are presently being packaged with the insulation hardware package and updated installation instructions.

Warranty Status:
Covered under the terms of the BMW New Car Limited Warranty of 4 Years/50,000 Miles.

Labor allowance:
3 FRU

IMPORTANT



(1) Transceiver bracket must be installed using (4) insulated nylon screws and washers as shown. Do not use metal screws.





(2) If bracket has been pre-installed, it must be removed and secured as shown using nylon screws and washers.
