SUBJECT: Inoperative Sport Seat

MODELS: E28 and E24

Situation: The wires for the headrest motor can become pinched in the seatback frame/springs.

As a result, the following may occur:

E24 models - fuse # 26 blows. E28 models - seat control unit damaged.

This may occur sporadically (making it difficult to diagnose) as usually the seat must be occupied and activated at the same time the wires are grounded out.

Diagnostic

Hint: Whenever receiving such a complaint, remove the seat back cover and inspect the wiring for the headrest motor prior to the replacement of the fuse/seat control unit.
