Fuel Tank: Description and Operation

Fuel Tank And Components:

The fuel tank is of conventional style steel construction, mounted under the vehicle. It has provisions for fuel expansion and is fitted with inlets and outlets for fuel supply, vapor recovery and fuel return lines. It houses the fuel gauge sending units (left and right side) and the high pressure electric fuel pump.

Fuel Tank Cross Section:

Since the fuel tank has a left and right chamber an "ejector" has been installed in the left chamber. The ejector uses the venturi effect created by the fuel pump operation within the splash shell to pump fuel from the left chamber. An overflow tube connects the two chambers to facilitate filling and equalizing the fuel tank.
